After several years of development Swiss watchmaker Jaquet Droz have revealed their new watch The Bird Repeater. The watch is inspired by 18th century bird automatons and will be available in only 16 pieces; 8 in grey gold set with diamonds and the other 8 in red gold.
The dial features tiny automatons of two blue tits, a bird native to the Swiss Jura region, perched on the edges of a nest containing two fledglings and an egg. When the minute repeater is activated the mother bird feeds a chick. A meticulously rendered image of the Saut du Doubs waterfall in the Swiss Canton of Neuchâtel is in the background, and an off-center subdial near the top records the hours and minutes with two rose-gold hands.
